Garmin Explore 2 very unrealiable at navigation!

I have this device for a short while now, and there are some terrible issues with it.

When you start a route from strava or kamoot, very often it will ask you to guide you to the start point, but with a lot of routes it will route you a block away and then finishes the ride, when you start the ride again, it will guide you again around the block and finish the ride again. Very very frustrating! Today i had this issue with 3 different routes!

Also when the device reroutes you but you cannot take said route and keep riding along for a bit further it stops! it then ask you if you want to ride.... and you have to press the button otherwise nothing happens anymore, no route calculation nothing...

I also have the device crash and restart a few times now.

How can this be advertised as a navigation computer and be so full of bugs and routing issues.

I really want to like this device, but it frustrates the heck out of me.

  • Same. Please make an official support submission on Garmin Support. I already did.

  • Ok a small update from my end. I found that you need to be super precise, follow the start of a route to the start point.

Then wait, either the device will then calculate the route OR does nothing and you have to stop the ride/ finish it and start the route again.

It is super random, but it will work as long as you stop exactly at the start/finish point, which is at a random location for all my routes a block/street away from my house. Super random and kinda annoying.

Still plenty of other routing/re-routing issues with navigation a route to which i did not find a solution yet, oddly enough abandoning a route because bad routing causes the device pickup a spot halfway back towards home and then calculates the route again but this time to be in working order, i backtracked it again it was the entire same road i was riding on on the original route, then when i said Fu it i go home it does not work, and then again after recalculation.

Also how often does Garmin update their map? i have plenty of road situations on my routes so far that were not updated on the map on the Explore 2, rerouted bike lanes etc that were there clearly for several years.

Something is still seriously wrong with this device/software.
