Countdown Timer App?

I just bought the new Explore 2 but I am uncertain if I actually want to keep it after finding out the potentially limited functionality in my use case.

Backstory: For the last two years I used my phone to navigate and to set a countdown for me to change my GoPro battery (recording my rides in long form). Now I want more battery life and a lower profile device on my handlebar.

I would like to find out, if there is any way to set a countdown timer on my Explore 2 that starts and restarts manually!
Basically the same way that I set a timer on my phone: Set time - Press start - Countdown - Alert - Press start when I need it again.

All the apps and functions I found had no way of starting, pausing or resetting the countdown manually.

  • Did ou try to find such an app in the CIQ store?

  • My short test of the Explore 2 was so disappointing that I returned it immediately. The whole device felt like a early 2000s throwback and I will just keep using my phone even though it is power hungry and feels obtrusive on my handlebars.

    The main reasons are:
    1) No multitasking with dedicated apps which run background tasks (like a countdown app)
    2) No import of Komoot tracks including waypoints
    3) Since there are no waypoints, there is no way to skip one waypoint to either shorten the ride or avoid a certain path
    4) Since there are no waypoints, there is no way to re-plan an existing track to include a POI and then go to the next waypoint
