Garmin Coach Plan not sync'ing on Edge 850

This has been reported before.  But, it remains a problem.

I mostly bike as my cardio exercsie.  I got the Edge 850 and was excited to see the new features.  In general, I love being able to follow my Cycling Coach trainings on the Edge.  I like the voice prompts and the graphic displays.

I also have a Forerunner 965 and an HRM 600.  But, the Garmin Coach Plans are not getting sync'ed on the Edge.

I previous tried to make the Edge 850 my Primary Training Device.  That was a big mess.  I was getting 3 completely different suggestions between the Forerunner, the Connect App, and the Edge.  So, I changed my Primary Training Device back to my Forerunner.

Now, at least the Forerunner and the Connect app are sync'ed up with respect to the Coach suggestions.  But, the Edge is frequently out of sync.

If the Edge is correct, I use it and love it.  If it is not, I do the training with my Forerunner and the Edge in Extended Display Mode.  But, that is not as good.  It does not provide the great feedback that the Edge would provide.

  • If you are seeing issues with the Garmin Coach plan synching between the Forerunner and the Edge 850 I suggest powering the watch off and back on. If the issue persists you will need to remove the watch from the Garmin Connect application, and the phones Bluetooth, then power both off and back on. Once completed pair both devices back up and sync.

These devices also have a feature called 'Daily Suggested Workouts', which are not part of a Garmin Coach plan. These suggestions are device specific, and are not transferred from watch to the Edge.

  • I sort of followed your advice.  The problem was with my Edge, not the watch.  I unpaired my phone on the Edge and turned it off.  I removed the Edge from my Connect App.  I removed it from my phone's Bluetooth list.  Then I turned the Edge on and repaired the phone and the Edge.  It has been corretly sync'ing for a few days now.

  • This is still a huge problem.  I unpaired and forgot both my Forerunner 965 and my Edge 850.  Then I repaired my watch.  I wanted it to the Primary Device.  I paired the Edge next.  The Garmin Coach Plans stayed in sync for a few days.  After 1 week, the Edge had a mind of its own.  The watch and the Connect App were in sync every day with respect to the Coach Plan.  The Edge just started to recommend completely different workouts.

  • I have the same problem with Garmin Edge 850. I use the triathlon training plan. Fenix 8 and Garmin Connect are synchronized, but Edge 850 shows me completely different workouts.
This is very frustrating. The problem has been discussed and described in several forum posts without grmin offering a solution that works permanently. Why does synchronization between Fenix and Connect work without any problems, while Edge devices invent their own workouts in the Coach Plan?

  • The last software ujpdate seemed to make this better.  Over the last 2 weeks, there was only 1 day when the Edge had a mind of its own.

  • These tips helped me install the Garmin Triathlon Coach plan on the Edge 550. Because there was an error regarding strength training (they were turned off in the plan settings, but were actually displayed in the plan), I deleted the Plan to restart it. But I couldn't do it. The Cycling Coach plan works correctly on all devices.
