Activity Records After Almost Every Ride

When I finish and save rides I am getting notifications of new records for distance, speed, etc. after most rides even though I have had better results on prior rides using the 850. I can see these prior rides are in my history on the devices so am wondering why the 850 thinks the new activity set a record. This is more of a nuisance than a real problem, but it is something that worked fine on my prior Edge devices.

  • I would like to turn these notifications off completely. I'm really not that shallow. But to be congratulated on a new distance PB after every activity no matter what distance I did is just annoying. As you say, it's a bug/feature on 850 that I did not have with 830.

  • When you get a notification of a personal record you have to accept it. Then you‘ll get only better results as a new record.

  • Thank you. That is different than prior Edge devices and it is not obvious how you save the record. There is no prompt that I noticed. I have been clicking the check box in the upper right corner of the screen to move to the screen with the ride summary data. I will look the next time a record pops up. From a feature request/bug fix perspective, I would like to either be able to turn record reporting off and have it work like it use to (not require any user action to record a record and not show records until the prior one is broken).

  • No. That's not it.  You have to accept it (tap the tick) to get away from the highlights page so I do that after every ride.

I've just finished a lazy recovery ride of 28k and 420m climbing. Much less than yesterday and a lot less than rides I've done in the last two weeks but yet again the stupid device congratulated me for records for distance and climbing.

It's a bug, a pest and not a feature. I'd like to turn 'highlights' off.

  • This is exactly my experience and I agree it is a bug. It is completely random when it seems to forget prior rides and show a new record.

  • I do not agree that this is a bug.  I like that I need to go to the Connect App and accept the record.  Sometimes, I do not want to accept it.  I get PR's sometimes because I have a 20 mph wind at my back.  I don't like to accept those.  it was not a genuine PR.

  • That could be a feature if it worked that way consistently and was documented. I have never, in many years of using various models of the Edge, accepted a record in Connect. My records kept updating just fine and never reset to lower numbers. My Edge 850 randomly resets the records. It had not done it for a while but after today's ride showed new records in a long list of categories, all of which were below what I had done in rides over the past week.
