Weather widget always says weather unknown

I had exactly the same issue on the Edge 840..

The widget on the main screen always says "Weather Unknown"

The device is connected to the phone, and the Garmin connect app is open, so I don't know what the problem is. I'm just fed up with it not reporting correctly.

Surely we shouldn't be having an issue of showing the correct weather in the year 2025?

  • and if i set a fixed location in GCM? (because the nearest official weather station is on a top of a hill, 400m higher than my actual altitude with totally different weather, always much cooler, heat acclimation doesnt work properly, etc) i have to "miscalibrate" my position a bit.

btw is there no a free map/database about the official weather stations used by Garmin? would be helpful for me to find the ideal one (the last one which was good doesnt work anymore and as i see my weather data is coming again from the wrong station...)

  • Since the OP posted 2 pictures, it‘s clear that his device gets weather data. That‘s not the problem.

The question is: do all 850 device say „Weather unknown“ on the home page glance (general bug) or is it only his device.

This can only be answered by other 850 owners. (I‘m not)

  • if i should bet, it is a bug of that glance (lots of glances are problematic, not just the weather...)

  • Having read this post yesterday I paid attention to the widget on the 1040 screen and saw the same “weather unknown” message , but the hourly symbols below as in the OP showing it was getting some weather data.

i then hopped back onto the beta program going from 28.x to 29.22 firmware and today it looks good (“Scattered showers” if you care) so fingers crossed this was a minor thing fixed

  • I have noticed that on my 1050 now that you point that out!

I also don't get wind in my current location. I wonder if the Garmin doesn't have a name to associate with the location.
