Climbing angle ?

Hi Folks,

I went for a ride this morning, and synced the device, it uploaded to Gamin Connect.

When I log in, I can find it under Activities -> All Activities, and it shows me the map view of the route.

But it does not tell me how steep the hill was ?

The chart shows elevation, and I can see the elevation change from about 42m to 72m, but nothing about the grade or steepness. Surely the 840 can capture this ?

Where can I find the details.

  • scroll down a bit and there is "climbs" and tap it, then it will list all the detected climbs , tap again on a selected climb and you will see the elevation chart with grade%, etc.

  • Yeah.  I don't see grade in Garmin Connect.  I sync my rides with STRAVA and there it does show grade when I hover over the route profile.  That said, it's not very useful because it's so variable/noisy.  What might be useful is being able to set distance interval and see the avg grade over that interval. IDK how to do that.

  • there are climbs in GC too, view climbs in overview tab and there. and you can move your finger on the elevation chart of the climb and it shows the avggrade% on the parts (the real grade% for every sec is not so meaningful)

  • Thanks Luko79 - I checked the device, but it does not show "climbs" there.

I did some googling and found I have "ClimbPro" switched off. I wasn't sure what it was, but it sounded like a premium feature that would swipe my credit card Joy

I've switch it on now, and tomorrow I'll go back and ride the hill again. Fingers crossed!

  • >>>there are climbs in GC too<<<

I don't see that on the "Garmin Connect" website.  And on the "Connect" phone app I don't see an elevation chart or climbs under the Overview tab.  There is a Charts tab which shows an elevation profile but not grade.  Perhaps it's because I don't use Climb Pro?

  • Without ClimbPro it wont detect any climbs during your ride... so it is the problem.
