Edge 840 total ascent issues.

My Edge 840 always gives me different total ascents than other Edge 840s that have done the same ride as mine. Typically, it is always lower, and by a very considerable percentage, 10 to 20 per cent lower.

    how is your elevation chart in GC or on Strava ? similar as others or not matching with the real terrain? share a chart pic if you can

    and where is your 840 during the ride? front mount, stem, or between TT bar (if you are riding TT bike). do you use rubber case on Edge?

    También tengo el mismo problema con el ascenso total de entre Garmin Edge 840 y Edge 530 de un amigo, misma ruta y 50 metros más de ascenso del edge 530, supuestamente siendo la misma ruta el Edge 840 debería ser superior al tener GNSS MULTIBANDA ya que es más preciso,

    The altitude data is coming from the barometer, not from GNSS. the 2D track is much more accurate with 840 than with 830, it is true. i dont know why your friend has such a difference (50m difference from total 100m or from 4000m Total Ascent in a ride?) but usually the new x40 series measuring more TA values than the older models if the barometer's hole is clean, and remains clean also during the ride .
