battery save mode

Question

Replaced an old 820 with an Edge 840. On the 820, battery save mode would blank out the screen after a predetermined time in either night or day mode. The 840 seems to dim the screen in night mode but not day mode. Is there a way to dim it in both?

In day mode, unless it's very dim, the backlight should be fully off as the screen is being lit by the sun. Check that you have the backlight in Auto mode if the backlight is still on during normal daylight.

It sounds like you might have Auto Brightness enabled, but you can disable that if in the display settings if you like. It sounds like you may prefer to set the backlight brightness to your liking, then select a set backlight timeout. You can read more about that here .
