duo trap sensor

ReIplacing an edge 820 with edge 840   Synched the 840 and connected HR monitor and duo trap speed sensor.    840 confirms they are both connected.  Heart rate is reading fine.  Although the 840 says the duotrap is connected, it is not reading speed.   The old 820 is reading the speed so it is not the duo trap.  The duo trap is fine - new battery.     Any idea on how to get the 840 to read?

Yeah.  IDK.  If you remove it from the 840, then try to pair it again, it should show up under BT and ANT+. You might try ANT+ and see if that makes a difference. We have ours paired…

  • Just a hunch - the 840 default is to detect speed via the GPS. Do you need to tell it not to and to use the Duotrap instead?

  • If there is a speed sensor then that takes priority over GPS. Were you testing with the bike in the stand?

If so it is possible that the automatic wheel size calculation has not been computed as you need to ride around 1Km in a fairly straight line to set it. You could try manually setting the wheel size and see if that fixes it.

  • Duotrap here is a combo speed/cadence sensor.  I believe we have it paired as a combo speed/cadence sensor, similar to the old Garmin GSC10.  I thnik it's possible to pair it as just a speed sensor or just a cadence sensor, but it's been a while since I messed with it. How do you have yours paired?

  • I paired it and when I look at the Edge it shows it as BLE.  I know the Garmen uses ANT+ but the duo trap is dual, so it should read ANT+ as well.  It is paired as a combospeed/cadence sensor

This is our suggestion as well. We recommend unpairing the two devices, then pairing them again to see if there's improvement.
