Compass not working

I am on the latest firmware for the Edge 840 and just can't get the compass to work correctly. It's always pointing in the wrong direction. Calibrating doesn't work. Only while cycling it shows the right direction, but I assume that's due to it being replaced by GPS.

The direction comes from GPS while moving and from the magnetic compass when stationary.

Is the direction off by the same amount when stationary.

Do you have anything else mounted close to the Edge that might generate a magnetic field.

Take the Edge off the bike while outside and see if the magnetic compass is correct.

i tried it with my 840 (29.17) on the desk, and it is working good (without new calibration and with a new calibration too).

try to reset your unit with the power button press and hold until 20-25 secs until the reset happens (nothing will be deleted, dont panic :) )
