Power transmission drops from Kickr Core on 28.34

Hi,

I am experiencing problems with power readings.

My setup is as follows:

  • Zwift on iPad, controlling Kickr Core power (workout)-
  • Edge 840 (firmware 28.34) – records the ride – connected to Kickr Core and HR chest strap

As you can see in the chart below, during intervals there are occasional drops in the power readings for 2–3 seconds. This happens from time to time.Last indoor season, the same setup worked fine without any issues. I believe there may be a problem with the Edge 840 software, as the readings on the Zwift interface are accurate. The Edge only has problems with the power; HR data is recorded without any issues.

Both devices have latest firmare.

Any idea how to fix it?

  • IDK, but the 840 can control the trainer too which might be causing a conflict.  In my experience, the trainer needed to be connected to the 840 only for power (and cadence if relying on the trainer for that), but not for control by the 840.

  • This might be good thing to test next time. My device was replaced as I had to send it to service and I might have been added smart trainer in wrong way! I will circle back soon if this is the real reason.

  • the hr is also affected just that hold the last known value for a few seconds (it is some kind of error correction) , so this is why there is no dropouts on the chart. the power has no such an error correction (on purpose)

the problem could be interference also, wireless bt headphone, speaker, or if you have 2.4ghz wifi in the room, that is also can kill the ant signal (if the wifi channel is 11 or near to it),. sometimes if it is on auto-channel, autoswitching from a lower value to the 11 on a day and suddenly the dropouts are happening

  • Yeah that was it! Many thanks. I did two indoor sessions with kickr connected as power and drops are no longer there.
