Start course navigation without the touchscreen

Following up on locked question from BeNnO!

Perhaps it's just not obvious but is there any way to choose the "Ride" button to use a course for navigation using only buttons? Scrolling with the side buttons just loops you to the menu and back to the preview. It has been impossible for me to start a route during rainy, sweaty, or gloved situations. How is a course initiated on the 540?

So when highlighted using the up/down buttons, does the top right button not select it? I believe that's how it works on the 540 with no touch screen.

I raised the same question few weeks back in the bug-section.. So far I was ignored. Im afraid we have to live, that this wont be possible... Beside is quite a big limitation from my pov.

I still hope Garmin will fix this.

Correct but as looigi said, you change the highlighted item via the up/down buttons and you select the high-lit item via the top-right button

Yes, however, the highlight will not move on to the blue "Ride" button. In my photo you can see "Course Demands" is highlighted. If you press the down button the selection just moves back up to the 3 dot menu button at the top of the field.
