840 Solar will not sync via WiFi

Hi there, Im about at wits end with my 840. Love the device, but wondering if this is an issue with my device or common with 840s?

Anyway, when I first got this 18 months ago or whenever, everything worked great for a year or so. When I turned the unit on, it would pull any new Strava routes etc, and when I ended a ride and hit save, if I was at home and on wifi it would autu upload the ride to strava. For the past 6 months though that is not happening. Only when I open the Connect app on my iPhone and click sync (sometimes I have to kill the app and connect again and then sync) does the transfers take place. This is slower than I would like, and while it works, I would prefer this to just happen on Wifi. 

Out of frustration a couple weeks ago I did a full reset of the device and started again, reconnected to Wifi, and that worked for a week, and Im back to square one now with only the Connect app sync working. 

Is there something I am missing here? This should just work right?

Im on 27.14 firmware, its an 840 Solar.

    Problem Solved. The issue seems to be (somewhat ridiculously) related to MODERN wifi hardware. The edge unit has a problem with Wifi units that broadcast wifi over both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands. I got onto support and their only suggestion was to disable 5ghz on my network but I refused to do that. So I found another solution. 

    I have the ability on my network to create a "guest" network, and I did that, set it to 2.4ghz only, gave it a separate name (same wifi name but with _Guest ) and connected the unit to that. Everything works as expected. This is absolutely crazy that thats the case in 2025, but there you go. If you are having this issue, you can resolve by using a guest network that your wifi unit should support

    TBH, it's a was a BS advice from the customer support.

    It worked on older SW versions and it clearly broke on the latest SW version. It's a regression that they have to fix.

    Same issue for me. Doesn't reconnect to wifi and won't auto sync with the phone either unless I open the Connect app and manually sync.
