Last week, while riding a course, my Edge 840 Solar suddenly went into pause-mode after about 5 kilometers. It stopped recording my ride, the speed went to 0 km/h, and it stopped counting the distance. The device continued to display the map and my position on the map correctly (although the map rotated constantly on the screen, as if the device couldn't tell which direction I was going), and also ClimbPro worked correctly (the device detected the climb I was on and correctly displayed the remaining kilometers, etc.). A few kilometers later the device started recording the route again, also displaying speed and adding again distance.
The next day, after riding about 12 kilometers, I experienced the same issue again, but this time the device remained in pause-mode for the remainder of the ride. I rode again yesterday, and experienced the same problems again. During this ride, I was able to get the device working again via a soft reset, but after some more kilometers, the issue occrred again. I disconnected also the hartrate-sensor, but this didn't solve the problem.
What could be the cause of this problem? I never had any problems with my device previously.
- The device's software version is up-to-date (version 27.14).
- There is also a cadence/speed sensor connected (I haven't disconnect it yet, but it has never caused a problem in the past).
- In my settings, the device automatically goes into auto-pause at 3 km/h. The problem persisted when I adjusted the auto-pause speed to 0 or 1 km/h, or when I disabled auto-pause.
- The available memory also seems to be completely fine (15GB of 28.9GB available). I do have many saved waypoints/locations on the device (I estimate around 100), and I haven't deleted them yet as a test to solve this problem.
- So far, the problem has only occurred during these latest rides in Slovenia. Yesterday I drove back homeward and in Austria I tested the device in the car, and it correctly recorded the ride (with the car) over a distance of about 140 km (but I cannot imagine that the location Slovenia could be the cause).
Any help to solve this problem would be much appreciated.
