Downhill Recording

will there be a downhill recording option added to the garmin egde 840 and other models, besides the edge MTB?

  • See current beta version change logs for 1050 (28.11) & x40 (28.10) devices noting that the 1050 is getting more of the MTB features than the x40, said to be due to "hardware limitations" in the x40, specifically the ability to do 5Hz or might just be marketing segmentation, (550/850 when released will likely follow the 1050 path)? In the normal course of beta versions I would expect these to go into production in the coming week(s). Browse the beta areas if you need more info, or join the beta?

    For 1050,

    • Added new MTB features including new activity profiles (Downhill, Enduro, and e-Enduro) that support 5 Hz GPS recording, Timing Gates, and Forksight enhancements

    For x40 ,

    • Added Forksight Enhancements from Edge MTB

PS: These MTB features have hardly rated a mention in beta user reports over the last month of the 28.xx beta testing so uncertain how much usage / interest they will get in production? I have not seen any testing comments (& I have done none) but I would expect 5Hz recording to chew through the battery?
