Need to redo sensor pairing on Edge 840 to Assioma Duo Power Meter Pedals before every ride

Annoying software issue: I swop my Assioma Duo Power Meter Pedals between two bikes. They are too costly for me to own two separate sets of these pedals.

Each bike has it's own profile in the Edge 840. Usually before every ride on either bike, I have to go into the Edge 840's menu and delete the Assioma sensor pairing and redo it before I can get readouts on the Edge 840 for cadence and power. It does not matter if I am riding the same bike on separate consecutive rides or swapping to the 2nd bike and using it's profile. This happens even though that sensor is showing as connected under the sensors page. Until I delete it and repair, I won't get readings on the Edge 840. Thereafter it works perfectly for the entire ride and does not drop out. But on the next ride a few days later, same story...delete sensor, search for sensor and reconnect.

All the other sensors work fine no matter which bike I am riding including HR strap, Shimano DI2 and SRAM AXS.

Fairly sure that this is a software bug.

  • Not sure if this is relevant to anyone else but I have use various crank and pedal power meters including Assioma Duo and the only way I have been able to 100% guarantee recording success is to spin the cranks to wake up the PM before turning on the head unit. I earlier had quite a few rides where the PM appeared to be connected but wasn't displaying data. On those occasions the solution for me was to power fully off the head unit and restart, I.ve never had to do a re-pair on any of my PMs. My connection is always ANT+.

  • Hi

I have almost the same issue. I have a Garmin Edge 1040 and bought a pair of Favero Assioma Pro RS-1 pedals.

When I go for a ride, I have to delete the sensor and then pair it again. Then everything works fine. When I turn on the Favero app on my phone, everything works fine. Both power and cadence.

I hope its a software issue

  • I had issues pairing my new Favero Pro RS-1 pedals to Garmin --- it would say connected, show calibration, and I could see data in the Favero app --- but no power on the Garmin.  I tried several things (delting / repairing / waking up pedals before tunign on Garmin, checking ANt+, etc).  What worked for me was to delete sensors from my other bikes --- I didn't realize my Garmin was always searching for any previous sensor I had paired .  Once I did that, the power data was collected on the Garmin.
