Since the switch at the beginning of May, I have been unable to access or update any of my maps to topoactive. I've even gotten the bulletin email "How to Get New Maps for Your Edge". On Express, only cyclemap and some OSM city navigator is available to me. While I am continually researching this issue, I also see that my device doesn't have a basemap (gmapbmap.img) nor is there an option to install it.
On the device's map manager it shows a mix of cyclemap and topoactive, but all maps are actually just cyclemap 2024 (see copyright). I have been in touch with Garmin chat support who said "We had a few issues with the map change + Garmin Express that have been addressed by engineering... but engineering will keep us posted once they contact us."
I was assured by both Garmin's NA and Taiwan support chat that it should be working and my device is expected to get the update despite/disregarding being purchased in Asia and used in the USA. Since then I've tried some troubleshooting steps including a full device reset without resolution; I have a feeling it's an issue inside the walled garden. In the meantime I'm using a custom map region (thanks extract.bbbike.org) but I'm very displeased how this is playing out.
