Easy backup of settings?

Are there any files one can save and restore following a full device reset to bring back all settings, profiles, wi-fi networks etc? Otherwise reconfiguring everything is quite a task once you have it dialed in the way you like it. Garmin Express has a device backup restore function but I've never seen a way to create the backup.

  • You can backup via the Connect app.

    1. Connect: Ensure your Edge 840 is connected to the Garmin Connect app on your phone.
    2. Navigate: In the app, go to "More" > "Garmin Devices" > [Your Edge device] > "System" > "Back Up & Restore" or "Restore & Reset".
    3. Create Backup: Select "Device Backups" and choose to create a new backup.
    4. Restore Backup: To restore from a backup, select the desired backup file and follow the prompts.
  • Backup and restore is not an option for me:

This is following the directions you gave.

Only reset is available (from the device itself)

  • Funny, take a look here then:

  • Thanks that seemed easy enough... except it didn't restore my activity profiles and some settings exactly as expected. Does the "create backup" you mentioned work more smoothly?

  • IDK, but I can see all my setting on the phone Connect app when my Edge is awake and actively connected via BT.  I did a factory reset on the Edge a few months ago, and all my activity profiles and settings were pretty much restored.  I had to re-install any IQ apps that I had had on it. .
