I have a Specialized Turbo Vado SL 5.0 connected to my Garmin Edge 840 (latest firmware).
Specialized has its own EBike Range (Travel Range). Garmin has a Smart Travel Range stat. I set up my data page to display both. I rode 32 miles on sport mode (60/100 assist).
Specialized started at 52 miles and ended at 17 miles. This is with the Specialized main battery at 100% and a Range Extender at 100%.
Garmin Smart Range start at around 10 miles and ended around 6. How is Smart Travel Range supposed to work? It seems broken or maybe it just doesn't work with my bike?
Is there some way to configure it? I'm using an ebike activity profile.
Note: The above values factor in a Range Extender which Garmin doesn't know anything about. I didn't realize the software didn't track Range Extenders.
I attached a photo. This photo is a different day without a Range Extender. Ebike Range is sent from my Specialized bike to Garmin. It is calculated by the Specialized computer built-in to my ebike. Smart Travel Range is calculated by Garmin and is way off. Started out with Ebike Range (from Specialized) at around 24 miles. Garmin shows Smart Travel Range as 12 miles.
At the end of the ride, I was at about 10 miles for ebike Range (from Specialized) vs 4 miles for Smart Travel Range. Looks like Smart Travel Range is about 50% of eBike Range.
