Komoot App Download

Hello,

I just bought a new garmin 840 and have updated it to latest version using garmin express. Komoot was downloaded yesterday on phone and connected it to garmin connect and it transferred on to my garmin watch but it will not download to Edge 840. Says software update is required using garmin express. But, It is updated to latest 25.25.  Thanks in advance for help.

  • Hi. I have the same issue today with a new Edge 1050 v.13.14. I have tried Garmin Express, Garmin Connect IQ on IOS, and the store directly from the Edge, but none of them worked.

    Same error message This app requires an update of your Device. Please use Garmin Express to update your Device.

    In order to work around the issue, I chose the option in the Komoot app on my phone to “Download GPX file” and was then presented with the option to share it with the Garmin Connect app on my phone. Just make sure that the connect open is started. And then from Connect send the course to the 840.  Found that that is actually a better user experience than when using Komoot from IQ on the 840. 

  • I had the same issue and it was a bit fiddly to sort out, but I managed to sort it out eventually. I'd been trying to install the Komoot app via the Edge 840 menu - ConnectIQ button - Browse - Navigate your world, but the Install button was greyed out and was saying a software update was needed. I'd gone into the device settings - About - Software update and the software update said no updates available!

    Set up:
    Garmin Connect app and ConnectIQ app installed on phone from app store (logged into account and connected to Edge 840)

    Downloaded latest maps (large download - left overnight) - not sure if it was essential to do this, but I was then able to sort the rest out This can be done via Menu - System - Map manager - Cycling maps and choosing the applicable map e.g. TopoActive Europe (and tapping on it)

    Turned device off and on again 

    Menu- System - About - Check for updates, then it showed it was checking and downloaded some new firmware 

    Back on the About screen - 2nd item down "Software update" it had a software version listed, so I tapped on it and it started the install (it didn't do it automatically)

    Turned device off and on again 

    Komoot app (which had been queued) downloaded (via Menu - Connect IQ - Connect IQ store)

    Komoot now shows up on Connect IQ menu on the device and on my home screen under "Mountain bike" etc profiles set up 

    I tapped on the Komoot app and it showed a code which I had to enter on their website to link my Komoot and Garmin accounts.
