Behavior when leaving the route (v27.14)

Is it really the case that with the setting “Show hint only” the option “End navigation” or “Recalculate route” is offered? Without confirmation, the map freezes and you can no longer see where you are going.

If you only want to deviate from the route for a short time, you don't want to interrupt the routing or recalculate the route.


On the Garmin Edge 830, only a text was effectively displayed, but the map was still visible and active. The text could be removed by tapping on it. No re-routing, no interruption of navigation.

    The label "End navigation" is a little bit misleading. Just tap on it and the message will disappear. Later when joining the route again my Edge 840 resumes navigation without any further action required.

    On my first rides with the 840 I also didn't dare to tap "end navigation". Then, on a well known route with navigation on only for calculating the ETA I decided to take an also well known shortcut because the calculated ETA was to late … and on that ride I discovered that "end navigation" did not end the navigation forever, but interupts it until automatically resuming when joing the route later.

    Yop, 'End navigation' is kind of like pausing the navigation, while 'End route' fully stops it.

    Okay, der Name ist wirklich irreführend. Sehr gut, dass die Lösung so offensichtlich war. Vielen Dank! Schade nur, dass die Karte blockiert ist, bis man einen der Buttons auswählt. Und dass die Tasten nicht nach ein paar Sekunden verschwinden. Aber vielleicht kommt das ja in einem Update :-)
