Garmin what's wrong with your ecosystem?! Fenix 8 and Edge 840

Tell me please what is the point of buying your different devices if they cannot cooperate with each other?!

Explain that please (if you possibly can...)
When I go cycling I have to use your both devices. Why?

If I use only Edge then after the ride my calories are not transfered/summed up correctly into Garmin Connect and what's more they are not displayed/summed up on the Fenix
If I use only Fenix then what is the point in buying Edge?! I want to see all the data clearly during riding, on a 'big' screen – not a small watch on my hand!
So finally the only sensible option is to ride with both devices and then at the end of the ride cancel the ride on Edge and save activity from Fenix.

Sorry but I find it totally ridiculus!
I guess you are lucky (for now) because there is not much choice on the market but I hope that it will change in the future. Then you will loose a lot of users.

I would be greateful for some explanations (if there are any) to the issues I described above.

  • Which device is your primary training device? Perhaps try making the Fenix primary wearable and primary training device. Then the Edge is an accessory but ideally all info is shared. See more here: support.garmin.com/.../

You can also check via GC website that Physio Trueup is enabled

  • Fenix is my primary device
I think that Physio Trueup is always enabled (there is no option to switch it off or I can't find it)

  • It should be enabled, but you can double check on the device landing page on Garmin Connect.

Perhaps try shifting the primary training device to Edge. I'm just troubleshooting with you, I don't have a direct solution.

  • Having exactly the same problem. Edge 840 with Fenix 7 pro. I have noticed that this happens only when doing longer rides, with active calories above 1k. On short rides everything seems to be ok. I did have a guess that this is due to me using older firmware on Fenix (battery drain issues with current).

  • Same behaviour with Epix 2 pro (promary wearable) and Edge 1040 (primary training dev). Active calories don't sum up cortectly in GC app. Clearly it's a bug.

Another related bug is that Body Battety graph doesn't recognise my bike rides recorded on Edge, just displays high stress levels instead during those timeslots.

It looks like the ecosystem is not working properly across several devices.

  • It seems there's a difference between Active Calories (as seen in the Glance and daily Summary) and Activity Calories (as recorded on another device). I had an online chat with Garmin support yesterday and they confirmed that this is "working as designed". I've gone to the Garmin Suggestions page and suggested that they revise this.

  • Both are called "Active calories", see my screenshot from activity + another screenshot of Calories glance after I did the ride + 3rd screenshot of my Epix2pro. Clearly the glance is not summing up all calories from "Primary wearable" and "Primary Training Device",  just copying those from watch (Primary Wearable).

  • Why don't you report this with every beta and don't you write more posts with every update? That's how it works at Garmin. You have to constantly remind them and force them. When they see that there is a constant uproar around the problem, then they do something about it. And with a big delay, but they do it. If everyone who writes in these topics about Physio True Up wrote to the admins and reported it as a bug, it would be more useful than complaining. This problem has been there from the beginning and Garmin insists that it's ok, when it's not...

  • I signaled this problem with Edge 830 and Hrm-Pro hearth rate sensor over 3 years ago

    https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-mobile-andriod/295676/active-calories-recorded-by-edge-830-power-meter-are-overwrited-by-hrm-pro

After that i signaled this same problem combining Fenix 6 and Edge 830 by email with their support.

This same problem happens with Edge 840 and Fenix 6, and Edge 840 and Fenix 8

This problem has never been solved: hearth rate calculated calories overwrite calories calculated with power meter.

    That's it, since 4 years.
