I find the touch screen 840 is great apart from one major shortcoming.
When riding in the rain or when sweat drops onto the device screen, the fields will randomly change. So let's say I have speed in space 4 of a screen. A drop of water falls on it and the device thinks I'm trying to modify the data shown in that field. I've often found the field changes. Not great.
Of course the way around this is to lock the screen. The only downside of that is I now effectively have an edge 540. I can't use any of the features of the 840 touchscreen such as scroll, change screen, scale in or scale out on map etc. What would be ideal would be to allow all touch screen capabilities apart from the ability to edit data screen fields. That would solve the issue.
If anyone else has a touch screen edge eg 8 or 10 series and find this is an issue can you please comment? That way there is more chance the guys at Garmin will make the change.
