Download failed. Check back later for updates.

I have a new Garmin Edge 840 (a few months old) and updated to 26.18. When I now check for update over wifi the device always comes back with the error "Download failed. Check back later for updates."

I also notice that the Garmin Connect app on my phone is constantly trying to send some software update to the device while the Connect web says " Software is up to date — Version 26.18 ".

What gives and how do I resolve this?

Have you tried connecting and updating via Garmin Express?

No; I'm interested in getting in the "device direct" and "device via phone" to work. Would there be a reason to assume that connecting via a computer would clear this up?

I think it's essentially a simpler chain of communication, and as such there's a chance it may work when the GC solution is failing. Worth trying imho.

IDK. I'm always pleasantly surprised with WIFI and BT updates/syncing works. It's been pretty iffy in the past. When I want to be sure, it's the ol' USB cable and Garmin Express.
