26.18 graphical data fields have gone small again, can I change back?

I can't remember the exact date but sometime in December 2024 my 840 wanted to do an update and when it did, the graphical data fields the main number was much bigger than it used to be and it made it much easier to read whilst riding.  I only have a zoomed in screenshot from a video , see below

and yesterday I got a notification that it wanted to do another update, so I did but now the numbers on the left of the top 3 fields (3s PWR, HR and speed) have gone small again are are not readable easily when riding. also the gear graphical data looks odd and the front 2 chainring graphs are almost as wide as the 12 cassette bars which means I can't really see what gear I'm in very clearly whilst riding

is there way to go back?

  • I've just edited the first post as apparently the picture wasn't showing. I can't uploads a picture of how it looks now for some reason, but just use your imagination it's similar to the top picture but the numbers are less than half the size

  • This is what it looks like now, the 3s power, HR and speed are small. Also the front chainring bars are too big, which makes the 12 cassette bares too small.

  • Oh wow. Thats a huge difference. Yes I agree the current layout is tiny.

I was thinking how ridiculous the power stats looked on this screen.

My eyes are good but if I'm not cycling on a smooth road there is no chance this is legible when there are any vibrations.

But I doubt Garmin is going to come here to check feedback. This forum feels like it has become a bit of a graveyard.

Unfortunately, I don't have the old firmware to attempt a roll-back. Perhaps thats a habit I need to start again.

  • yeah the average and max are really only something I can read when I'm stopped, or on a climb. but I thought it was great in December when the main numbers filled the box, unfortunately that only lasted 3 months...

what's almost as frustrating is I don't know anyone else who ever got this feature, so when I'm trying to explain my the problem I'm just getting funny looks.

Is this something you'd get on the 1050?

  • Oh! Interesting.
I only got my device in Feb so I essentially started using it with current firmware.

Not sure about the 1050 or even the 1040. I'm curious now, and I'll see if there are some video reviews that might show a sneak peak at at some of these data fields with older firmware.
