FW 26.xx can't connect BT sensor

I have just switched to outdoor cycling and recently got FW 26.18 on my 840 (non-solar)

Since switching from 25.25 to the current version I couldn't connect my heartrate sensor anymore.
It's a bit of an older model with Bluetooth only, but it always was reliable.

I see the device in the available list, but then get the error "connection failed" (or german: Kopplung fehlgeschlagen)

I had FW issue with this sensor back during the 21.xx beta and my problem got solved with version 21.17
The changelog of this version said "Fixed connection issues with BLE sensors that do not support secure connections" -  so maybe it's similar topic

Would like to see a fast update. Thanks

  • I had access to a Venu 3 (FW13.17, also new around 2 weeks ago) and a Venu 2 (FW19.05 long time no updates):

On the Venu 3 same problem as 840, the HRM was found, but when connecting "connection failed"
On Venu 2 I could connect and read out some information:

Indeed its BLE and from some research of the model number I found some test results of a lab, specifying "F1D, 2402 - 2480 MHz (40 ch), 3.0 mW/MHz", and Bluetooth Smart
Idk if this might help a Garmin engineer

Or is it somehow possible to downgrade/rollback to a previous FW?

  • Has this issue been addressed in the current beta 27.07? Is there already a fix for?
Maybe "Fixed issue with pairing third‑party power meters via Bluetooth" or "other minor issues and improved device stability"?

I didn't want to install the beta yet without confirmation because there is no way back, and it could be a long time before a stable version is available.
