26.17 beep for sensors?

In previous versions, my Edge would beep when connecting to an ANT device (but not a bluetooth device oddly), however after the most recent updates I noticed it doesn't anymore. I have confirmed tones are checked on and I've tried switching the device from ANT to Bluetooth and back, but no luck. I like having the confirmation when it connects.

  • I'm seeing this issue as well. Also the little pop-up notification no longer appears when a device connects.

    Once again, Garmin fail to carry out basic regression testing before releasing software to customers of their expensive gadgets. 

  • Yep same issue for me, I also checked and tones is switched off. I did try toggling it on and off but that didn't help. Like you I need the conformation bias that the sensor has connected. The unit beeps for everything else as it should after the update though.

  • I may be an outlier here, but I don't remember ever getting beeps for sensors connecting.  I have gotten pop-ups when one connects and I really dislike that as it usually interferes with what I'm trying to do on the screen.  I can already tell what's connected via the little icons on the top of the screen or by data in the pertinent fields.

  • Were you using BT to connect? I found it inconsistent that BT did not cause the beep confirmation but ANT did.

  • I can confirm that the Beep has gone. It was working earlier today, connecting my Fenix 7 over ANT+, I've just upgraded to 26.17, and it doesn't now beep. 

  • FWIW:  I use ANT+ for all sensors (PM, HRM, Speed).  It could be that my 840 beeped, but its beep is so feeble I might not have noticed it.  In any case, I'd rather not get beeps or pop-ups when sensors connect.

  • It would be better if it was a user configurable option. I'm not too fussed about the beeps myself, but I appreciate that others might be. 

  • Confirming that I have the same issue - I don't think there is a beep or a notification bubble when my HRM, remote, etc. connect to my 840. I just upgraded my 540 last night and will test it out tonight - verifying everything works before selling it.

  • Thank you all for posting your experiences. I can confirm we have an open ticket internally looking into this. I will report back here when I have more information to share. 

  • Sensor beeps are not working on the 540 either.
