I’m reaching out for help regarding several frustrating issues I’m experiencing with my Garmin Edge 840. I hope someone here can provide insights or solutions!
- Garmin Express on Mac:
Despite being recognized at the hardware level (it shows up as an MTP device in System Information), my Edge 840 doesn’t show up in Garmin Express. Both my Edge 840 and Garmin Express are running the latest software versions. I followed Garmin’s official guide to reinstall Garmin Express from scratch, and while it works the first time after reinstallation, I can’t rely on doing this every time I need to connect the device. - Poor Connectivity:
- Bluetooth: Syncing is very inconsistent. Most of the time, it syncs randomly, if at all.
- Wi-Fi: Even though the device indicates it is connected to Wi-Fi, syncing never works over this connection.
- Troubleshooting Already Done:
- Ensured Garmin Express and the Edge 840 were on the latest software versions.
- Followed Garmin’s guides for reinstalling Garmin Express and troubleshooting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
- I confirmed that the device is connected correctly to my Mac and the network.
I’m using a Mac Mini M4 (macOS 15.2), and there, my Forerunner 965 works flawlessly with Garmin Express and syncs on this same Mac Mini, which makes the Edge 840’s behavior even more confusing.
