Locked screen Swipe

Hello!

I have a 1040 and I recently bought a 840.
On my 1040 I usually lock the screen but I can still swipe between pages while riding, but in the 840 when its locked you cant do it.
is it designed like this or am I missing some setting?
I thought they were quite similar in functions.
