NO POWER/CADENCE DATA AFTER UPDATE

After the most recent update. Power reads as zero as well as no cadence information. It shows on Zwift and Wahoo applications. I've removed and added the Powerlink pedals sensor to Garmin-calibrated...still the same issue. Why Garmin after an update? Is there a fix...another update? Frustrated.

  •  Indeed, would like to get this fixed.

  • I rode yesterday and my dual wahoo power pedals read as zero.  I have turned off/on the garmin unit and still no power/cadence data.  Equally frustrated.

  • Are you also connecting these via BLE? If so, can you switch this connection to ANT+ to see if the result is different?

I am unable to recreate this on other brands with the BLE connection, so we are still determining if this is originating with the Edge or the Powerlink pedals themselves.

  • I thought the Edge 840 was both ANT+/BLE connected.  I thought the Garmin would choose ANT+ over BLE.  I will look into this issue.  But these (power/cadence data loss) issues have happened over three rides this week after I did the system update.

  • The 840 can connect to both ANT+ and BLE sensors. One sensor cannot connect to both connection types at once though. If I am misunderstanding what you are saying, I apologize.

ANT+ is the first connection type shown, and you have a menu option to show available BLE sensors when searching.

  • Okay, this is my fourth attempt and no power/cadence from my wahoo dual power meter pedals.  Pedals were connected and calibration read 0 (successful calibration).. My Garmin 840 does not register any power and cadence values while riding.  My Garmin varia is connected, my Shimano DI is connected, and my Garmin HR monitor is connected.  All devices are successfully connected, but I can not get any power/cadence data to be generated / recorded to my 840.  This lack of data happened after the latest software upgrade.  I can not be the only one experiencing this issue.  Pedals are fully charged and blue light indicator is on.  Ideas??

  •  No, you're not the only one (why I posted on this thread and connected with live troubleshooting tech prior). Both of my ride buds who have Powerlink pedals and Edge 840(solar) also have this issue after they updated, they are annoyed but too busy to post/mess with and upload information to Garmin.

I will say connecting with ANT+ shows power through one indoor workout. Still, the BLE connection is a no-go, although power registers within the Zwift/Wahoo apps. Likewise, for me, Garmin Varia, Shimano DI2, and Wahoo Trackr register on the Edge via BLE. Mos def AFTER the update it is an issue with Garmin as Wahoo pedals are broadcasting. It seems as though they are still testing and analyzing.

  • One difference between ANT and BLE is the device to device communication. ANT is a many to many. BLE is a 1 to 1 channel communication. So it depends how many channels the device supports in terms of how many concurrent devices it can talk to over BLE.

If the BLE sensor only has one channel then it can only talk to one device at a time.

Most modern sensors have at least 2 channels.

I'm not sure how many devices you are trying to connect to the sensor over BLE at the same time.

  • Today I was unable to get power data, even after a cold reboot of the Edge 840. I ended up leaving it off and only used my Fenix 7S Pro :-(
