840 Solar Display Brightness

I just purchased the 840 Solar, the display is not very bright even though i have the brightness at 100%.

the display on my previous 830 was much brighter even at a lower brightness setting

Yes, brightness is off on the 840 Solar, but it's not even about brightness, but clarity.

I have a friend with an 830, and his screen looks significantly better than my 840 Solar - very clear and easy to read.

Many reviewer said that the solar version is a bit dimmed compared to the non solar version because of the solar panel / layer on the display.
