Edge 840 worse than 830 for UI

I've recently switched up from the 830 to the 840 and I've found it's been frustratingly worse. (currently on 24.19)

  • Finished activities are unpredictable to upload to Garmin Connect, I can hit sync a bunch of times and nothing happens
  • Navigation menu has buried the enter address option, and the input is not as good as it no longer auto finishes when you've been specific enough (i.e. if you've input country, postcode, and start to type the street, it will stop you after e.g. 4 characters if there are only few options). Transport search is also now unusable to find the nearest train station (bail out of a ride due to mechanical) because "Ground Transport" is no longer a menu (who is cycling to an Airport over a train/bus station?). If you go "All Transport" it lists 100's of bike parking locations obscuring what I actually need. Sure, it's possible to push from phone but I'm not sure why they took that away, and phones do go flat.
  • When on a course if you get diverted/miss a turn the maps screen will disappear while the route is recalculating. I used to use this to find my own way back to the course quicker than the Garmin could. Now I've got to guess, or pull over and wait for it to figure it out.
  • The dismiss for notifications like messages and low batteries should be hit anywhere on the screen/message, not a tiny (x) which I don't think is located consistently (sometimes bottom right, sometimes top right).

Couple of extra 840 things I wish were better

  • Unclear if auto pause now functions during structured workouts. I think it might? When I first used it I went back to how I did it on my 830 and use manual start-stop. On the 840 this has the same impact of hitting the lap button... bug or features!?
  • If the 840 now has wind as part of stamina, is there a way to show the wind data it is using to save using a 3rd party connectIQ app?
  • Hazard reporting should be more customisable. In the UK I can't think of too many occasions where an "Animal" is a hazard (not too many wild dogs/large predators), but broken glass is very common and for how you would avoid it needs its own hazard type. The report hazard button could also maybe occupy a data field.
  • With smart reminders for nutrition and water, it has been possible to customise the bottle size, but not the food size (calories of volume). No nutrition comes in 100 cal increments, so ideally I could enter a value corresponding to preferred gels (as example).
    • Gold plated ask would be on connect app you could scan the barcodes of the food you're brining on a ride and it would tell you what to eat when, similar to power guides.
  • This was a problem the 830 also, but if you get multiple notifications at a similar time, the dismiss/respond button layers can get out of sync with the top message on screen.

There's probably other stuff, but this is what I could think of while I was waiting for my activity to push to Strava
