It seems a lot of people don't like or use the lap button because you call it a "lap" button.
If your manuals referred to it as a Lap/Segment button, I think more people would have a use for it. It may seem to be a trivial thing, but as soon as some people read that it is a lap button, they dismiss it and never think of the alternate use for it.
This would apply to all your computer models.
