Currently there is no way to identify which wifi network your device is connected to.
In the instance that you have multiple wifi networks configured it would be good to see which network you have connected to (or which network is active etc)

I have a 1030 but I think the 840 is similar.Just swipe down from the top and the screen will show the network at the very top.
I double checked, no, the 840 does not show the network.
When it's connected/sync'ing you can see the little wifi image on the screen, though no network name.
Strange that Garmin eliminated that feature. How about going to System and then Connected features, then WiFi. A long way around but it should show.
Sadly, nope. It shows the networks you've added, though not which network it's connected to. :(
