When opening and starting a saved route from strava the timer does not start when riding.

Navigation and sensors are all working gps speeds are correct, but no time(r) is working?

Please advise on this!

You need to manual start the timer on the Edge by pressing the start/stop button.

Selecting ride just loads the course it does not actually control the start of the activity timer.

Yeah. Course navigation and ride recording are completely independent. When you press the start button on the right of the bottom edge of the unit, recording starts. Press the button again and recording is paused along with an option to stop and save the ride. If you don't save the ride and press the button again, recording will resume. This is independent of any navigation functions. You can start a course, stop a course, start a different course, etc, without affecting recording.

There are some settings to automate that, such as auto start and auto pause. Auto start will start recording when you reach a set speed. Auto pause pauses recording when you decrease below a set speed and resumes when you increase above the set speed. The auto functions are enabled or disabled in each activity profile.
