24.18 - search by address option missing

Recently updated my 840 (non-solar) to 24.18 and now i can't search by address. I can only search by Cities or Coordinates. Is this by design or am i missing this option?

If by design this removed a very useful feature! Garmin please put this option back ASAP as this is one of the features that convinced me to buy the 840 over the 540.

Hi, if I go to navigation, I can see menu "Search", then I can click on the top searching function (I didn't know really how it's translated to English) and then I can search addresses.

I find it was a much better organized in 830 as here in 840. I have still problems with usability.

Thank you for your reply. I just rechecked and do not see that i can search by address since applying the 24.18 update. I was able to in the past. Backlight also still not work correctly and GARMIN removes this very useful feature....VERY FRUSTRATING.

Yes. These two options are missing:

To select an address, select Search Tools > Addresses, and enter the address.
To select an intersection, select Search Tools > Intersections, and enter the street names.

SOLVED:

I had to remove the map and then add it back into the device and the options reappeared.

Can you elaborate? Did you delete the map and then re-download it to the devices? I'm also missing the address and intersection search options.

exactly.
1) delete map set

2) reboot

3) use garmin express to readd map set

4) reboot.

Missing options are now present and work as before.

I suspect something in the firmware update caused the map DB index to be corrupted and rather than reporting that it just took away those options....

Got it! I didn't know if you meant just disabling and re-enabling the map.

I deleted and re-installed the map, and I'm getting the address search options again.

Funny thing is, I factory reset my device after the 24.18 update (to reduce any chance of issues), so it should have had a very clean map file or database.

But I appreciate you pointing out the solution!

I'm using the CycleMap Africa and I've removed the map from the device, rebooted, added the map via Garmin Express, rebooted the device and still do not see search by address. :(

I only have search by Cities or Coordinates in Search Tools

Latest firmware 24.18 and Map version 2024.10
