Indoor Profile with Daily Suggested Workout

Products used:

  • Edge 840 - Software Version:  21.18
  • Forerunner 955
  • Tacx Neo 2T

I recently purchased an Edge 840 and paired it with both my Forerunner 955 for heart rate and my Tacx Neo 2T for smart trainer.  I created an "Indoor" profile and can manually control the trainer making it harder/easier to pedal from my Edge 840.  I want to use the DSW (daily suggested workout) on the Edge 840 in my indoor profile but it doesn't come up.  What can I do?

Originally on 8/4 when I set everything up it said I needed to wait 7 days before it would give me DSW.  So I've been free riding and recording the workouts on 8/4, 8/5, 8/7, 8/10, 8/11, and 8/13.  Now its 8/14 and I still don't have a DSW.  Now it says "Ride with HR and Power to get daily workout suggestions or download a training plan from Garmin Connect."  Each of the 6 prior times I did ride with heart rate using Forerunner 955.  Each of the 6 prior times I did ride with power using Tacx Neo 2T.  All of this is in the Garmin family.

Why don't I have daily suggested workouts on the Edge 840 yet?

  • Might be a place to check under home screen-> Training -> Workouts -> Daily suggested -> menu screen (those 3 dots) ->  and make sure Show on home screen is checked; also check if your Training status is not paused (from the Training status widget)

  • Thanks for the reply.
Yes the show on home screen is checked.
Also the trainging status is not paused.

I'm thinking it might be the way I connected the Tacx trainer to my device.  I first connected it a simple way because the unit saw it was there and then I said yes to connect.  But then I couldn't control the trainer through the head unit (at least I didn't see anything obvious).  So before my first workout I then searched the web and found a different way to connect.  I think it was to connect one aspect of the trainer right away and then later on through some menus connect the other aspect of the trainer.  That second way allowed me to increase/decrease the resistance of the trainer so I thought that was the (strange) proper way.  I'm now at the point where I'm going to reconnect my trainer a different way and see if that changes anything.

If anyone has an advice as to how to connect my Tacx trainer let me know.
