Edge 840 elevation incorrect after rain

My Garmin edge 840 elevation is way off and I recently rode through a rainstorm. Could this affect the elevation reading? It has been dry for a couple of days now and I tried calibrating several times. During today's ride it was gaining elevation while going downhill.

Same issue fixed in an easy way. Simply blow hard into the two small holes on the back of the device. If a little dust gets inside the altimeter goes crazy.

Yes, it can. The Edge uses a pressure-based altimeter. If you ride through a storm, you will get inaccurate altitude readings.

If it's still giving inaccurate readings even after a recallibration in calm weather, you likely have a faulty hardware or something stuck in the sensor.
