Edge 840 music controls, the next (previous) track click does next 10 tracks instead of 1

Hi all,

I've faced strange behavior and haven't found any workaround. The latest firmware is installed.

The next (previous) track button always does the next 10 tracks. Play/Pause hung and has about a 5-second delay. When the track finally pauses the song timer continues for whatever reason. Volume up/down also has 5 sec delay.

That widget: https://imgur.com/5Lc90wV

I have Android and Spotify if that is important.

Thanks

Offtopic: in general, I have a feeling that Edge 840 software is worse than Edge 830. I reboot my device often as the device hangs. That navigation bug I asked for previously. Also, I have a small bug with Bontrager lights - in sensor settings, the battery level is only full or red.  In the notification bar (or what is the name of that thing when swiping down) only the front light battery is available.

  • I'm using Poweramp (on Android) and control music with the drop-down screen, and don't have the issue with the track skipping or a play/pause delay. I do experience volume delays, though.

Do you have the same issue with the music control from the drop down screen?

The only Garmin bike computer I've owned is my current 840 Solar, and the software has been getting worse and worse. I get very frequent sensor drops, pretty much with every ride. Resuming from standby pretty much requires me to turn the unit off and back on in order for it to reconnect. So, I totally get your frustration here.

  • Eyes I have no drop-down screen with the music controls, my drop-down is: main (profile/settings/battery and GPS level + sensors) then the controls (ser alarm, live track, find course...)  next notifications, weather, segment explore, climb explore and finally lights.

I found music control only as a data screen for the ride.

You have it set up as a data screen, but you should also be able to set it up as a widget (under the system menu, not the profile) as "Music Controls". At least, that's the option I have.

  • Found it. The same behavior, unfortunately.
