840 from time to time, instead of going into standby, it freezes completely

I noticed that sometimes when I briefly press the power button to go into standby, the cycle computer remains with the image blocked for at least 1 minute and then restarts.


Has anyone else experienced this?

  • Yes I am experiencing the same or something very similar with 21.18 software. My unit seems to freeze during Bluetooth / Garmin Connect sync including all buttons and then recovers. Also reboots occasionally after power on from sleep and when and after syncing. No reboots during rides however: 

  • Have you found a solution for this issue or have you had any feedback from Garmin at all?

  • No solution on my side. But i don't get this problem so often.

    Is the freezing a known issue in 21.18 ? If not, please can this be reported and investigated.

  • Ok. Interesting that we have a similar issue but errors in different tasks; yours "HWM_wifi_thread" and mine in this particular instance "RSI Driver".
