How long does solar charging work?

I open this post to understand if Garmin's Solar devices have a solar charging capacity limited in time, coincidentally equal to the duration
of the warranty. My Instinct 2 solar was able to exploit the full solar charging capacity for about 25 months, after which the solar panels progressively
lost efficiency over about 4/5 months and now I am not able to charge more than 5/6% even under full sun.
Obviously my watch has not suffered any damage and the screen is still perfect. In the post I opened ( forums.garmin.com/.../instinct-2-solar-progressive-worsening-of-solar-intensity- and-solar-charging-capacity )
another user also had the same problem two years after purchase.... planned obsolescence?
Once the warranty has expired, Garmin only offers paid repairs. Has any other user had a similar experience with other Garmin solar devices?
I'm also asking because I recently purchased an Edge 540 solar and I would like to know if it is destined to stop charging with sunlight when
the two-year warranty expires.
  • You are suggesting that it was deliberate
    "vast conspiracy"

why would they willingly use defective components? it is obvious that it could be an error either by Gramin or simply by one of its suppliers. And why do you keep talking about conspiracy? Even if by hypothesis the problem were to have a significant impact in terms of numbers, I have never said that there is a desire or that there is a conspiracy, I don't understand why some of you continue to make these references. Mine is a hypothesis and that's why I asked a question not a statement. The hypothesis starts from an event that happened to me and some other users of the same device. I tried to ask if users of other solar devices have also had this problem and it seems not, it's better that way. Is it enough to make a statistic, probably not, but it is a problem that only manifests itself after many months of use and on a functionality of the device that probably many do not check regularly. Maybe only when you read posts like these do you have a doubt and go and check. Before I wrote the post on the Instinct 2 channel no one else had talked about it, is it a coincidence? Did our solar panels all stop working at the same time? Or did they not realize the problem until they read the post?
