BLE periodic drop-outs after 21.16 update

Hi,

all worked well until this morning, when my 840 updated to 21.16.

See below the chart from Assioma BLE - periodic disconnects every ~100s

Has anybody experience similar and managed to find a workaround?

There is another thread about some BLE sensors dropping out. Garmin is working on a fix. In the meantime you can pair to the sensor over ANT.

Kinda the opposite. My crank spindle PM kept disconnecting and reconnecting every 10-20 seconds on ANT+ and I had to switch to BT to get it to stay connected. I haven't tried it again since just updating to 21.16 so don't know if it's fixed or not. Crank ANT+ continues to work fine on my 820, which can't do BT anyway.

Idk if I had the same thing causing the issue, but my bluetooth dropouts disappeared with the new beta 21.17

I can confirm no drop-outs using ANT+ connection with Assioma.

Two things still bugging me:

840 did not discover ant+ device -> I had to manually add ant ID
Before the ride, I need to manually click Connect in the Sensors menu

(I removed the sensor from 840, powered it off/on, re-added sensor .. no change, still have to manually connect each time )

But at least it works during the ride - hopefully it stays like that

After 21.17 i had to clear the stages PM & hat to delete it on my garmin edge 840.

I also had to change to ANT+ connection when i added it again. On ANT+ it works well.

BLE connect still does not work after the update. every Minute i have Dropouts on my garmin....

Switch to ANT+ than it works fine!

Out of interest I would like to understand why people are wishing to use BLE over ANT as it requires extra steps to bypass the default ANT set-up. Is it providing data that you cannot get over ANT?
