Indoor Training with Smart Trainer - missing data in comparison to watches

Hi,

I bought Edge 840 recently and I am discovering differences between FR265 and Edge 840 when I do indoor cycling with Smart Trainer and what's really disturbing - FR265 shows more and better data than Edge 840.

Activity: Indoor cycling

Training: My own training created in Garmin Connect

Smart Trainer: Technogym Ride with power meter (ANT connected)

Activity made on Forerunner 265 has visible "Target power" graph included in Power graph and also specific "Intervals" where I can see all the "Rest", "Ride", "Cool down" phases of intervals.

Activity made on Edge 840 has just normal Power graph and I can see only "Laps" which are not distinguished to each other, instead of "Intervals".

The only thing Edge 840 has and FR265 has not is "Stamina" feature. Otherwise FR265 generates better output in saved activity.

Just for explanation, the first pic is FR265, the second one is Edge 840, two different trainings, but both of them made the same way. And also, there are some drops in connection to power meter, I am aware about it.

  • My 840 does show target power, not sure why it isn't for you and your set up. I'm using it with a Tacx trainer, in case that helps.

  • To be precise... I can see it during workout. But, as you can see from my screenshots, I cannot see it in saved activity in Connect after workout. But when I record it from FR265, it does show all the stuff.

So your recorded activities from Edge 840 looks the same as in my first screenshot? With "Real power" and "Target power" in Power graph and with "Intervals" instead of "Laps"?

  • Yes. I'm trying to attach a screenshot, hopefully it will upload ok. Edit: don't seem to be able to upload the screenshot for some reason.

  • There are some issues with uploading of pictures. I was succesfull after like tenth attempt.

  • can you insert a screen of the workout you are following? i ask because i have an 840 and i see the target power in the graph

  • OK, guys, I have just probably figured out why is that. When there is a training where every single step has any kind of target power included, then it works. I have had "warm up" and "cool down" steps with just time and HR target, but no power target, then the whole saved activity is without power target and without intervals. When there is just one step missing any target power, then it does not show up anything in saved activity.
