Indoor trainer speed is 0.0

I've been dual recording rides on my Zwift Hub One using both Zwift (BTLE) and my 840 (ANT+). It's been working fine for the most part. I get rich data on Connect that count toward challenges (a huge motivational factor for me).

Tonight, however, the moving speed was 0.0. I checked my head unit and the gear ratio - averaged over many rides to be somewhat close when I climb - and wheel size are still the same as before.

I didn't see anything specific about this in the latest firmware notes, but did just update it in the last 24-36hrs. It's this a known issue or one of the "fixes" referred to collectively in the release notes?

To note, speed wasn't the only thing that was zeroed, so I don't feel I'm getting all the data I did before.

Cadence was recorded seemingly correctly as well i.e., the average seemed about right, as did the max from what I remembered.

  • Just a hunch, but could this be related to an auto-pause setting. The fact that it is the Moving time and speed that are zero (while the Totals are not) might suggest that you were paused for the whole activity.

  • share the original FIT file (in ZIP format , you can download it from Garmin Connect web version ) here, and from the file it is easier to tell what is going on here.

  • It beeps every five seconds if paused, so that I would've noticed. My data screens were chugging along as normal, too. That said, when I started it - which usually auto-pauses until I start peddling - it didn't do that this time so it's very likely it was something like what you suggest: the recording just wasn't started correctly.

  • i think the problem is that your Hub is paired as an indoor trainer in the Edge, but you control the training via BT with an another device. and in this case the Hub doesnt report data via ANT+ FE-C (as indoor trainer). I suggest to disable or remove the Hub as indoor trainer (in the Training menu), and pair it in the Sensor menu as speed/cad sensor (probably you already did it (i found a sensor named "Zwift" in your sensor pool , but in this file it is not connected as i see)

  • It's always been connected as an indoor trainer and worked fine (when not disconnecting from Zwift) till that time. That said, today it seemed to work fine. A moving average speed was recorded, along with all other data. Maybe it didn't fully connect all its own sensors, given the peculiar behavior I mentioned above.

  • the file has no distance data, that is 100% sure. honestly i didnt find any data for tha avg speed neither... so i dont know where did it come. what i recommended, that is the best way to avoid such a weird behaviours. if you always control your Hub via BT with an another device, this indoor training pairing is totally unnecessary and can cause more problem than any advantageSlight smile

  • When Garmin starts counting virtual rides not recorded on a tacx I'll be happy to disconnect that pairing. Slight smile I do a lot of activities on and off a trainer (trainer is really more during winter) and those Garmin Connect badges are a major driving force for me.

  • ahh, the badges...   i was thinking a bit, probably the switching order is the culprit, so if you turn on the Edge at 1st then after the Zwift device with BT is different than the Zwift device at 1st with BT control and after the Edge. or do you do always everything with the 100% same protocol and in order? how was it in this posted case?
