I have a Kinetic Road Machine basic trainer. There's no sensor output on it. Zwift and Trainer Road can figure out power from the cadence and speed sensor on the bike mounted into the trainer. Can the Edge 840 do a similar thing?

A similar question was asked on Reddit regarding the same sensor and the Karoo. My answer over there is the same here:
Unlikely. Most of those virtual power sensors are just speed sensors that the connected software uses to apply a speed->power curve estimation to.
Check this app, it supports a few Kinetic trainers, maybe it works with your setup too (the estimated power will be inaccure for sure, as it is inaccurate with Zwift or TR also, but more than nothing).
