radar icon

Is it necessary to have that radar icon in top right corner? It does completely nothing.
I've got custom screen (HMI) which has some data on that place.
I move everything right to make a place for car indicators, but the radar icon moves right when radar got a car. Why?

    It is to show the status of the radar communication as it is safety related feature.

    Solid radar icon - communication is good (active).

    Flashing icon - communication has neem lost

    No icon communication has not neem established on that power cycle.

    For safety reasons Garmin needs to be able to communication the radar communication at all times.

    I understand that connection indicator is crucial, but there's a way to design that smart, not only adding icons. Beside that, I think there's some sort of bug about that icon is moving with "car bar" on the right side. Would be better to have an icon or dot in color, which also indicates red/green as dot?  Now it's just messy :)

    lets say there is a reason to have an icon in top corner, but i dont understand, why icon is not moving left/right according to settings of car indicator stripe? it’s a mess (like whole 840 UI)

    worse, that icon moving left right when the car-bar is showing/hiding...
    that icon/connection indicator could be easily designed in clever multifunctional way, but now it's a mess like you said
