Wi-Fi has stopped working

Hi

I've only had this device two months and only used it three times and Wi-Fi has stopped working on it.

If I try and check for an update, it says "Download failed" if I go to connected feature -> Wi-Fi , it says "Sync Failed"

I just did a hard reset on the device and set it all up again but it's still not working.

  • It is a known bug unfortunately. Same problems here.

  • That's crazy. Shouldn't it be a priority to get a bug like that fixed?

  • It should and sadly you spend time for reset/setup. Search here for topic  “Wifi not working” (I cannot inserts links here?). The story around 5 GHz is somewhat misleading, most WiFis are dual 2.4/5.0 GHz. The last two pages are more relevant.

The devices actually sync some data like courses via WiFi and also download updates. But the WiFi icon disappears after bootup, the sync returns an error (but it syncs some data), and the update returns also errors (but downloads updates and installs them). I cannot say if everything works and messages a completely wrong or partially right.

    Test
Close the Garmin app on your mobile, if you use it. Create a course at your computer, send to device via Garmin Connect website (Linux, MacOS, Windows - OS doesn’t matter), start the Edge and it will download the course. If the Edge is already on, enforce sync through the menu.

@Garmin: If you need volunteers for testing. Here I am. I’m happy to help.

  • Do you know how long this has been an issue?

  • For 8 months minimum. I guess since initial release of the 40 series.

If I remember correctly the 30 series shows always the WiFi icon and its connection state. Furthermore they don’t respond with errors on sync/update.

  • That is lawyer territory right there.. If they haven't made an attempt at fixing something like that in 8 months, they shouldn't continue selling them until they do.

    I didn't pay £450 for a device that has a fundamental flaw.

I am going to seek legal advice on this, as that is completely unacceptable from Garmin.

  • I suggest to calm down :)

The device works and syncs some (if not all) data via WiFi.

  • Oh, I am calm.

I just don't let sleeping dogs lie.

If a basic function doesn't work as it should, and as advertised, it needs to be fixed asap. The fact you've told me that this has been an issue for 8 months or more, is quite frankly, alarming.

That is why, I will seek legal advice to get my money back. It's pretty clear that they are not doing enough..

Have they ever made a public statement to acknowledge it?
