Edge 840 (without solar) keeps restarting again and again

Since the software update to version 19.19, my Edge 840 (without solar) keeps restarting. This happens when I switch on my edge without doing anything else. Making settings is difficult because it keeps happening that the screen freezes and the edge restarts again. does anyone have similar experiences and possibly a solution?
Thank you

  • Yes, I also experience this. Reboots every 4-7 minutes while idle, no activity in progress, no sensors connected. See my reply in another post ("840 (Non Solar) Rebooted/Restarted during session") for details.

  • This (or very similar) was reported in the 1040 19.x betas now almost 2 months ago, many beta testers observed this and some of them saw it corrected after a full factory hard reset. The 1040s & 840s share software so likely the same issue, maybe the same resolution?. worth a try, the recovery of profiles and other data from GCM is much better than previously although it misses a few settings.

  • I did the factory reset (wiping the settings and data) and reconfigured the device:

    - I was able to restore ("transfer") the previous activity profiles and sensors in the initial setup via the Garmin Connect Mobile app on the smartphone. Incident detection, emergency contacts and live track also got restored automatically, and also some user data, like FTP, etc.

    - I had to manually reinstall and configure the IQ apps and IQ data fields. I had to manually configure the WiFi and the smart notifications.

This seems to have fixed the idling reboot every ca. 4mins. Good. Thank you L.Rouge!

I have not yet done an activity to check, if also the reboot a few minute after starting an activity has disappeared.
