Edge 840: failed to get basemap version (europe)

Hi all,

i got a brandnew garmin edge 840 bundle this week. Everything works perfect, besides navigation. I have 0 maps installed on garmin and my garmin is always loading with the error "failed to get basemap version". My navigation is just a blank white page with an arrow where I currently am.

Can someone provide me with the gmapbmap.img (for europe) for the edge 840 or does anyone knows a solution here? Even when I install Europe through garmin express and reboot my edge, there are no maps installed.

Are you using a Mac or a PC? Something does not sound correct. If you deleted files/folders off the Edge using a Mac those items are not actually deleted until you empty the trash using the Mac while the…

Re-installing the EU maps should also install the base map.

i would like to, but my garmin 1040 is 90% full so no room to install the europe map.

It's very odd that it's so full.. because i have zero maps and zero apps installed.

Did you manually delete the map files or did you use Garmin Express to uninstall the maps(s)

Strange thing is that Garmin express didn’t show any installed maps. I deleted the entire Garmin folder and hoped it would repopulate with Garmin express to factory default.

If you have deleted all the maps them make sure that the associated ClimbPro database files are also deleted.

The Garmin\SQL\Internal folder should be empty if you have deleted all the maps.
