I don't want to disable the calibration prompt in general. I do want the calibration prompt at other times, such as when starting a ride. But I don't need another calibration prompt right after stopping the timer at the finish of a ride. It should be easy for Garmin to realize that a calibration prompt at this point isn't needed.
it is weird, i never got such a message after a ride, only when the sensor woke up (so at the start of my ride). Ofc, if you stopped at the end of your ride but didnt save it just 2-3 mins later, meanwhile the powermeter went to sleep mode and probably woke up again due to bike or crank's movement before you pressed the save button.
I sympathise.
I have seen this same issue many times. My guess is it’s caused by the original calibration on start up not being fully completed due to some interruption or other that isn’t entirely obvious and so the unit hangs on to the fact a calibration hasn’t been done and then offers it back to you at what it thinks is the next available opportunity - which is a stupid one.
I have had edge devices for years now and whilst they are generally good (at least better than the competitors in my view) Garmin themselves never bother to address countless minor issues like this.
My 840 has recently taken to freezing after saving an activity and reviewing the summary - screen and buttons totally unresponsive. You can hold the power button to reset it and nothing is lost but this isn’t a beta version this is like the 5th generation of a very mature product.
i simply don’t think Garmin developers use their own products and that their testing and issue reporting process plus prioritisation of fixes is just very poor.
